When we were in NYC for Matilda's appointments, we arranged to meet up with my best friend from high school and her family. Mel and I haven't lived in the same town since 2003, but we have remained close through breakups, university, first jobs, getting married, getting fired, starting blogs, suffering miscarriage, living in ugly apartments, infertility, working for Martha Stewart, having babies, and moving. We text often, we laugh whenever we are together, and we show each other support whenever it is needed. Best of all, neither time nor distance have affected who we are when we reunite. It never feels like we have spent any time apart, and when we say goodbye it never feels dramatic.
We only got one photo together - when you are chasing four kids through Central Park taking photos of each other just wasn't a priority. But, enjoy the cute kids and cross your fingers for us that one day we will be able to live in the same town again. It would be a dream come true!
