I am a big believer in teaching through experiences, preferably enjoyable hands-on experiences. I want my kids to get their hands dirty, their eyes opened, and their memories built as a family.
Heading to a farm for some good, old-fashioned picking is one of my very favorite activities to do as a family. We get to get out of the house and go on a drive, talk about the fruit we are picking and its life cycle, put trust in the kids hands as they decide what to pick, and answer all their questions along the way.
This year, Parker was focused on quality control and made sure to look for just the right strawberries. Matilda, on the other hand, was so excited and eager to be there that she picked as many as her hands could hold and did so faster than I ever could have expected.
These are the moments.
