One of Matilda's very favorite things right now are books. She will happily sit for a good while (30-60 minutes) taking books off the shelf, flipping through the pages, stacking them up, and showing off new discoveries.
This how she chooses to spend her independent time and I am all for that. And let me tell you, when I say independent, I mean independent. She does not like help turning the pages, holding the book, or reading the words. I get it. She needs to feel in control of something she enjoys.
Board books are perfect for little fingers to hold, turn, and play with. They are reasonably priced, hard to damage, and easily wiped off. So if you have a little one, set your nice books aside, and let her indulge in the world of books.
If you are looking for some new books to add to your collection, some of our current faves are:
Little Blue Truck by Alice Schertle
Bear Snores On by Karma Wilson
The Foolish Tortoise by Richard Buckley and Eric Carle
